The runway at Bergamo airport "was too crowded", so much so that the The Ryanair flight to Cagliari scheduled for that afternoon left late , after "an evening spent on board the aircraft, stopped under the sun in the height of summer and without air conditioning ". The facts date back to last August 23rd. But the refund never arrived for the passengers, despite reminders. The reason? «They responded to us with an email, explaining that the flight was "subject to a disruption due to a medical emergency ", says Giancarlo Moi, who that evening was in the Lombardy airport with his partner, waiting to return home .

« Adding insult to injury. The communication is clear, they put in black and white the fact that the inconvenience was caused by an illness that occurred on board". That day, after the hours spent on the oven-plane, «we realized that something wasn't working. We were dripping with sweat , they didn't even offer us water: only for a fee. Then a lady and a boy felt unwell, so much so that an ambulance was called."

«They then told us that they were dealing with a technical problem . Therefore the illness is only a consequence of the sultry heat suffered by all of us there. Today they deny us a refund – continues Giancarlo – arguing that “although the law establishes that airlines should compensate for flight disruptions, safety is the top priority in air travel, so medical emergencies are considered an exception and flights affected by they are not eligible to claim compensation ”. As a passenger I am mortified. We didn't deserve this kind of treatment," concludes Moi. But her story would not be an isolated case: another passenger, a few days after the incident , received the same response from Ryanair.
