A still shocked town this afternoon bid a touching farewell to Luciano and Mariantonia Pinna , victims of the domestic accident that occurred between Wednesday and Thursday in their home on Via XVI Marzo . A silent crowd attended the funeral, celebrated by parish priest Father Paolo Contini , which included moments of deep emotion within the Parish of Maria Vergine Immacolata, especially during the homily.

The priest's words, full of humanity and hope, broke the hearts of many when he recalled how the couple, whose coffins were now before that same altar, had presented themselves in the same church on April 16, 1977, to seal their union before God.

"Forty-nine years of life together," the parish priest said, "which fit well with the Gospel of John: 'I give you a new commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.' Today we are here with heavy hearts and tears in our eyes," he added, "because what happened is terrible. The pain will remain forever, but our faith asks us not to stop at the last day. We look above all at their life together, at the mutual dedication of the two spouses, when they created their family and raised their children with the love that only parents can give. Luciano," Father Paolo emphasized, "protected his wife, not only in moments of joy but especially in her current fragility, because love cannot be broken."

And then a thought filled with affection for her sons Andrea and Adriano , suddenly and cruelly orphaned. "You must now cherish this love your parents passed on to you."

At the end of the ceremony, a long procession accompanied the two bodies to the cemetery, with a huge collective embrace, testifying to the strong bond that unites the community, capable of becoming a family in the most difficult times.
