Today in Rome, at 3:30 PM, the Council of Ministers is called to deliberate on the proclamation of a state of national emergency for Sardinia, Sicily, and Calabria , a crucial step towards unlocking extraordinary resources and launching the first interventions . The meeting will be attended by the three presidents of the affected regions: Alessandra Todde, Renato Schifani, and Roberto Occhiuto (whose presence yesterday was not guaranteed).

In recent days, the government announced an initial national allocation to address immediate needs. No figure was given: Transport Minister Matteo Salvini, who announced his intention to visit the three affected regions as soon as possible, reportedly requested the allocation of one billion, but yesterday the most realistic estimates returned to half a billion divided by three. More information is expected today. The appointment of one or more delegated commissioners is not ruled out as early as today: one possibility, for Sardinia, is that of a specific assignment for Todde.
