Ten days of suffering spent in hospital before giving up fighting.

Fabrizio Maccioni, 57, the knight who was thrown and crushed by his horse during the San Bernardino procession in Mogoro and who fell heavily to the ground hitting his head last May 25, died last night.

A blow that had made him immediately lose consciousness and which, in the long run, proved fatal.

The man was immediately admitted to the Brotzu hospital in Cagliari, where he was transported by helicopter, and never regained consciousness until the epilogue 24 hours ago.
