The Covid race in Sardinia is slowing down where, compared to the previous week, the increase in new cases is more contained: from + 40.8% to + 6.7% in the week 12-18 October . The epidemiological curve, however, does not tend to decrease with the currently positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants which go from 398 between 5 and 11 October to 471. This is what the monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation reveals .

At the provincial level , the highest incidence is that of the metropolitan city of Cagliari with 348 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants (+ 11.6% compared to the previous week), while the greatest increase is in Sassarese with 327 (+ 14.5% ).

An increase of 3.1% in Southern Sardinia (218), while the incidence begins to decline in the Nuorese with 306 (-3.1%) and in the Oristano area with 288 (-9.9%). On the other hand, the number of beds occupied by Covid patients in the medical area (5.2%) and in intensive care (2.5%) remain below the national average .

VACCINES - On the vaccination front, the percentage of the population over 5 years that has not received any dose of vaccine is equal to 10.6% (Italy average 10.3%) to which the population over 5 years temporarily protected, as cured, must be added. from Covid-19 for less than 180 days, equal to 1.5%.

The percentage of the over 5-year-old population that has not received the third dose of vaccine is 12.5% (Italy average 10.8%) to which the over-5-year-old population healed for less than 120 days, who cannot receive the third dose immediately, equal to 5.3%, while the vaccination coverage rate with the fourth dose is 14.8% (Italy average 20%).

Among the youngest (5-11 years old) 41.7% completed the vaccination cycle (Italy average 35.2%) to which a further 4.5% (Italy average 3.3%) must be added with the first dose only.
