The Court of Cassation confirmed today 30 years in prison against Marcello Tilloca who, on 23 December 2018 in Alghero, strangled his wife , the 40-year-old Michela Fiori, from whom he was separating.

The judges totally rejected the appeal presented by the man's lawyers, accepting instead the opposition of the prosecutor and the civil parties, ie the victim's family members and the Rete delle Donne association.

Tilloca will also have to pay the legal costs and compensate the representation and defense expenses incurred by the civil parties.

The 46-year-old had been sentenced in 2019 with an abbreviated rite by the gup of the Court of Sassari to 30 years of imprisonment, a sentence then confirmed by the Court of Appeal of Cagliari, detached section of Sassari, in November 2020.

While admitting his faults, he never declared himself repentant.

Meanwhile, the couple's children, both minors, have been entrusted to their maternal grandmother.
