Unions and students united , more than ten days after the terrible collapse at the University of Cagliari , to have clear indications "on the consequences of those events for security policies and in general for those of the academic organization ". A request, in essence, to break that silence that surrounds an episode on which there are still many questions, few answers.

The request of the unions , through a letter from the general secretary FLC CGIL Emanuele Usai addressed to the Rector and to the members of the Academic Senate of the University, is for an " extraordinary convocation of the Academic Senate in open mode", to involve the " university community on general repercussions in the development of academic life , on the didactic problems (logistic and otherwise) that have arisen and on the safety policies of the structures in which we live the university on a daily basis ".

An appeal that also meets the requests of students , who in another note addressed to the rector, professors and staff of the University underline the "anger" and "fears" for what happened and for an "unsecured" right to study , as well as "the safety of the student community, of the teaching and research staff and of all staff".

“Through a public, democratic and participatory assembly - explain the students - we have drawn up a manifesto that describes our claims ”. "The collapse of the Vardabasso auditorium - the premise - is not an unpredictable catastrophe, but the result of decades of cuts in education and tailored policies of companies, which do not focus on the right to study and interests" of the students.

THE FACTS - It was the evening of last October 18 when, just before 10pm, a building of the University of Cagliari in via Trentino, in Sa Duchessa, collapsed on itself . A terrible and unexpected collapse, which could have been a massacre if only it had occurred just a few hours earlier, when the lecture hall of the structure was crowded with students.

The rescue intervention was immediate, and they were able to ascertain that the building was fortunately empty. On the case, the prosecutor Giangiacomo Pilia has opened a file for culpable disaster and culpable collapse of the building , entering in the register of suspects the rector Francesco Mola, the general director of the University Aldo Urru, the manager of the investment sector, property and plant maintenance Antonella Sanna , and Agostino Zirulia from the Building and Plant Investments and Maintenance sector.
