The Carabinieri of the Ecological Operations Unit, with the support of the military of the Decimomannu Station, discovered and seized an area used for the illegal demolition of vehicles, located in the countryside of Decimoputzu.

The operation, part of a broader plan to combat the abandonment of stolen cars and the illegal trade of spare parts, also led to the arrest of a 42-year-old man, already under house arrest.

The investigative activity originated from overflights carried out by NOE personnel with the support of aircraft from the 11th NEC of Cagliari Elmas, which had allowed the identification of a large area characterised by a suspicious accumulation of stacked vehicles , compatible with an illicit activity of dismantling and resale of automotive components.

Following in-depth land registry and administrative checks, the Carabinieri later discovered that the area was owned by a man already under house arrest, due to another ongoing criminal proceeding.

At that point the military began a detailed inspection of the area, which confirmed the suspicions: inside a warehouse adjacent to the 42-year-old's home, a real clandestine workshop had been set up for the dismantling and scrapping of cars, the origin of which is still being ascertained . Mechanical parts, dismantled bodywork and spare parts that could be destined for sale on the black market were scattered across the entire surface . The overall value of the seized material is estimated at around 30,000 euros .

During a search of the 42-year-old's home, the military also discovered 10 grams of cocaine hidden inside a piece of furniture and a sum of cash equal to 19,610 euros, believed to be the proceeds of drug dealing.

Following the findings, the Carabinieri proceeded to seize the entire area, the dismantled vehicles, the drugs and the money.

The man, already under house arrest, was arrested again and, after completing the formal procedures, was taken to his home to await a hearing with a direct trial.
