This year, Oristano's Christmas could feature something completely new: an ice skating rink in the heart of the city, in Piazza Manno. The proposal, signed by Antonio Franceschi, Councilor for Sport, Entertainment, Leisure, and Youth Policies, and Valentina De Seneen, Councilor for Productive Activities, was approved by the City Council, which gave the green light to begin the process for the project's implementation.

The Municipality will now have to identify, through a public notice, the specialized entity that will be responsible for the construction, management, and operation of the rink. Only after this phase will the presence of the ice rink be officially confirmed, which the administration aims to have operational from December 1, 2025, to January 7, 2026.

The initiative was created with the aim of revitalizing the city center, offering residents and visitors a place to meet, have fun, and play sports during the holidays. The goal is to encourage social interaction, support local businesses, and create a unique Christmas atmosphere for adults and children alike.

If all goes according to plan, Piazza Manno will be transformed into a small ice village, complete with wooden huts, music, lights, and plenty of entertainment. This ambitious project marks an important step toward a more vibrant, welcoming, and participatory Christmas in Oristano.
