The trial of Michele Tronci , 62 years old from Nurchi , accused of fraud against the association Group of legal intervention (Grig) for having sold part of the dunes of Chia, on the coast of southern Sardinia, which environmentalists wanted to buy to protect them from any speculation.

The story dates back to 2018, when the GRIG, through a public subscription, started the procedures for the purchase of four hectares of dunes and sand in Su Giudeu , a stone's throw from the crystalline sea of Domus de Maria, to prevent them from ending up in the hands of private individuals.

The area in question , however, it turned out later, had already passed to the public domain , therefore now protected by the state.

The accused, assisted by the lawyer Giulia Lai, has always defended himself by claiming that he acted in good faith , sure that the land was his property and that he would have sold it to environmentalists ("and not to a group of Arabs") to protect it. Instead for the prosecutor who coordinated the investigation, Daniele Caria, Tronci would have deceived the Grig by exhibiting a sentence and the cadastral transfers even knowing that the area was now state property , thus managing to pocket with a scam 30 thousand euros .

This morning Judge Tedde admitted the constitution of a civil party of the environmentalist association with the lawyer Rosalia Pacifico, while she reserved the right to decide on the admission of its president, Stefano Deliperi, who asked to be able to establish himself on his own with the lawyer Susanna Deiana. The lawyer Lai opposed this hypothesis, arguing that it would be a duplication of the compensation request given that the contract would have been signed by Deliperi as president of the GRIG. A thesis also shared by the prosecution, while the lawyer Deiana remarked that her client would also have suffered personal damage from the whole affair. The Court will dissolve the reservation on 11 July , only afterwards will the trial begin.
