Chat, bank transfers and wiretaps: this is how the case of boating licenses bought in Sardinia exploded
Coast Guard Operation Easy License: arrests made, dozens of suspects. Around 50 irregular securities resulting from alleged corruption have already been seizedAnalysis of the seized IT devices, but also wiretaps, analysis of banking movements and the content of some chats: these are some of the elements of the "Easy License" investigation conducted by the Special Intervention Unit of the Port Authority body, with the collaboration and support of the Coast Guard of Cagliari and Olbia, under the direction of the Cagliari Prosecutor's Office, which revealed a vast ring of corruption for the issuing of nautical licenses in Sardinia: the certificates were issued without the person acquiring them having ever taken the exam and, in some cases, not even medical visits.
Overall, on Saturday morning, a precautionary custody measure in prison, five precautionary measures of house arrest and five precautionary measures of the obligation to report to the Judicial Police offices were carried out ( HERE ALL THE NAMES of those arrested and under investigation).
From the investigations, which began a year and a half ago with investigations carried out by the Coast Guard of Carloforte, it emerged that the nautical license was delivered to the alleged corruptors, after the payment of a sum of money: the payments took place through cash, payments into the bank IBAN , payments into some postal pay accounts or through postal slips for personal financing.
According to the hypothesis formulated on the basis of the investigations, it emerged that a soldier from Carloforte (the deputy commander Pierpaolo Spagnolo, 57 years old) - on whom the same colleagues of the Coast Guard started the investigations - would have abused his role and in particular would have asked in exchange of sums of money or other benefits consisting of goods and provision of various services.
Crimes such as personal corruption have therefore been hypothesized, through acts which constitute a violation of official duties; the ideological falsehood in a public document, in relation to the issuing of licenses in favor of subjects who would not have been entitled to obtain them.
Around fifty boating licenses have already been seized, in most cases handed over spontaneously by the suspects.
