An arrest and seizure of weapons, ammunition, gunpowder, game, trapping tools, and snares: this is the result of an anti-poaching operation conducted by the Pula forestry station.

During a stakeout in the Santa Barbara area, Sarroch, rangers stopped SD, 69, from Sarroch, while he was checking some snares used to trap two robins. He was carrying a hunting rifle modified to hold more ammunition. A search of his home was conducted, which yielded a modified .38 caliber pistol and related ammunition, all of which were illegally obtained, as well as various equipment for modifying weapons and manufacturing ammunition.

A total of three legally owned rifles with modified ammunition systems were seized, along with approximately 2 kilos of gunpowder and shot, and 250 rounds of homemade pistol and rifle ammunition. Furthermore, 250 birds, including starlings, robins, and finches, captured using the trapping system, as well as a wild boar, were seized .

Following the activity, and having informed the magistrate, he was caught red-handed for the crime of carrying, possession, and manufacturing of clandestine weapons and ammunition, as well as hunting offenses for the purpose of fowling and capturing ungulates by unauthorized means, which carry penalties of up to ten years in prison.
