The condition of the driver involved in an accident last night on provincial road 18 in Castiadas remains serious.

The 33-year-old was driving a Punto that veered off the road and crashed into shrubs and trees. The alarm was raised by a Castiadas city councilor who was driving along the same road when she noticed a light among the shrubs.

Getting out of her car, the woman approached the lights: they were from the car that had crashed into the embankment. The driver, seriously injured, was trapped inside the vehicle. He was immediately rescued and taken to Brotzu Hospital with critical condition.

The Carabinieri are now trying to determine the cause of the accident.
