From beaches to transportation, from travel planning information to staff training, the goal is to make accessibility a structural component of hospitality through site surveys, accessible information, and disability management.

The initiative is part of the regional program "L'Isola che Accoglie – Accessible and Inclusive Tourism in Sardinia," promoted by the Autonomous Region of Sardinia and funded by the Single Fund for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities pursuant to the Ministerial Decree of August 1, 2024. The program involves, in addition to Carloforte, the municipalities of Alghero, La Maddalena, and Orosei, with a total regional investment of €1.7 million and a duration of 24 months.

As stated in the press release, " The new program builds on what the Municipality has already accomplished: the beaches of Caletta, Bobba, Punta Nera, and Giunco have been upgraded to facilitate their use by people with specific mobility needs, with walkways, solariums, floating docks, restrooms, and JOB chairs to facilitate access to the water. With 'CARLOFORTE TÜTTI INSÉMME', this work is now expanded to also address sensory and cognitive barriers and, more generally, anything that may limit a person's independence in daily life and, for those arriving, before and during their stay. World4All will therefore conduct on-site inspections and technical surveys to document the actual usability of the sites."

Accessibility," says Mayor Stefano Rombi , "is another important aspect of this journey, and to address it in a serious and structured way, it's important to be able to count on specialized expertise like that which World4All will bring to the project."

"Talking about accessibility means first and foremost working on a culture of inclusion and, more generally, a culture of welcome," explains Francesca Serra, Disability Manager at World4All and responsible for activities in Sardinia . "In Carloforte, we will therefore work on locations, information, and skills, so that inclusion, accessibility, and independence become an integral part of both the community's daily life and the experience of those who visit the island."
