The new garden on Via Roma surpasses the skyline at Poetto. At least in the (short) race for the medal of most photographed city corner in August by tourists and Cagliari residents. But also for the surprise effect. The one offered by the new Via Roma, completely free and reopened to cars and pedestrians just over a week ago. "It feels like an oasis in the heart of the city," says Ermanno Dessì, while eating an ice cream.
Nine hundred meters of paving stones, lawn («too little», however), trees and aromatic plants, surrounded by games, ping pong tables, benches, fountains (also for dogs and cats) and fitness areas: almost «a spell of urban redevelopment», says Mr. Ermanno, which divides politicians but «aside from the traffic problems» is fully supported by the people of Cagliari and tourists .
