Via Vesalio (towards Terramaini) and Via Cesare Pintus in Cagliari are reopening to traffic.

Traffic had been blocked due to urgent work by Abbanoa on the Q1 collector, which passes underground near the Convitto Nazionale: the collapse of the pipe had caused significant flooding in the area and the workers had to dig deep to carry out the repairs.

Meanwhile, access to the street housing the Revenue Agency offices, adjacent to the light rail tracks, and especially to Via Vesalio, had been blocked: travel from Via Flavio Gioia to Terramaini Park was impossible. Traffic was diverted to Via Riva Villasanta and Via Risorgimento, which became bottlenecks during rush hour.

But even with the reopening, the inconvenience for motorists hasn't ended: Via Vesalio is undergoing further road narrowing works in both directions.

In addition to the bike lane, a system of lateral flowerbeds is being built that will narrow the road surface. The effectiveness of this project will be tested when accidents, even minor ones, occur on the main road or on Viale Marconi: when this happens, that's precisely the most used route to the hinterland. And with four lanes, traffic was already blocked.
