Cagliari, tree collapsed: school closes for two days

But in the end, after the controversy ( HERE IS THE NEWS) the order to close the premises of the Convitto and the XVII educational club in via Flavio Gioia arrived: no lessons on Tuesday 28th (tomorrow) and Wednesday 29th November.
The decision was adopted to allow the operators in charge of safely removing the approximately 20 meter high specimen of Aleppo pine which had fallen on the school due to strong winds.
The natural event, the Municipality states, "caused a series of critical issues which are still being resolved".
From the afternoon until the late night of Saturday 25th the firefighters took steps to thin out the foliage and lighten part of the central trunk . On the same day, the contractor managing the city's greenery intervened, delimiting and securing the area with barriers to prevent access by non-experts.
Work continued today. But "in consideration of the size and positioning of the tree, it is necessary to harness and move it with the aid of a special mobile crane of exceptional dimensions, in order to be able to proceed with felling the tree safely".
