There is the malicious hand behind the devastating fire that broke out on Thursday evening in the slum - just cleared - of via San Paolo in Cagliari.

The certainty that the maxi-stake was the work of arsonists came from the investigations of the firefighters - engaged for hours and hours to tame the flames - who identified various triggers, located in different points of the area.

Someone, therefore, deliberately set the fire to devastate what remained of the shacks demolished by the bulldozers of the Municipality , while at the same time burning the piles of waste and debris in the area.

The men of 115 are still busy taming the still active outbreaks, while there is concern about the black smoke emanating from the piles of garbage, which have released harmful substances into the air, starting with dioxin.

"We are doing everything possible to ensure that the situation returns to normal as soon as possible", explained the commander of the municipal police Guido Calzia.

The municipal civil protection, as confirmed by the councilor of the Truzzu council Andrea Floris, has activated all the procedures and all the competent bodies to carry out the checks. Arpas technicians are also at work for air sampling.

"We will analyze the data to check for any dangerous elements," said the director of the regional agency for environmental protection, Alessandro Sanna.

THE MAYOR - Paolo Truzzu was also on site: "Today I went back to Via San Paolo to check the effect of the fire started last night on the accumulated waste accumulated over the years", writes the mayor on Facebook.

"I want to say only two things: the first is that I am happy that no one was hurt and there was no damage to the other activities. Thanks to the firefighters for the great work they have done. The second is that we will not stop. We will clean and we will reclaim everything. And we will relentlessly look for the 4 idiots responsible for this mess to bring them to justice. Because the free ride is over ".
