The mayor of Cagliari Paolo Truzzu and Brigadier General Stefano Scanu, head of the Sardinia Army Military Command, today signed a memorandum of understanding for the assistance and reception service.
For three days a week they will be able to enter the Army factory for free with their caregivers .
Disabled people, a maximum of five at the same time, will be able to spend a day at the beach followed by specialized personnel identified by the Department of Social Policies of the Municipality of Cagliari . The Army plant is equipped with all the equipment to best accommodate the disabled. The memorandum of understanding signed this morning will last three years with the possibility of renewal.
"The Army is at the service of citizens, especially those most fragile and with greater difficulties - said General Stefano Scanu - The protocol signed today allows disabled people to be hosted in the Army bathhouse and guarantee them the possibility to spend a day at the beach in total safety ".
"This protocol allows us to realize a dream we had at the beginning of our mandate - said Mayor Paolo Truzzu - there are very few realities that allow us to have services for the benefit of the weakest and most fragile. Our will is to build a sense of community , we are very happy to have provided a service that was difficult to achieve. The fact that Cagliari has been identified as the first city in Italy for quality of life for over 65s , is the result of many services in the city such as public transport for the disabled and the elderly. Today this new protocol is the beginning of a journey that will last three years, the first of a long collaboration ".
