The fifteen-year-old believed to be responsible for the violent stabbing that occurred last night on Via Sicilia, in Cagliari's Marina district, was arrested within hours of the incident. The victim, a boy his age, was stabbed multiple times with a kitchen knife following an argument over trivial matters.

The injured young man was treated by 118 emergency personnel and rushed to Brotzu Hospital , where he remains hospitalized with a critical prognosis. His condition, although serious, is not thought to be life-threatening.

The attacker had left immediately after the incident, but was tracked down shortly afterwards thanks to a joint operation by the Carabinieri and the police, engaged in the area as part of the inter-force service for the "movida" arranged by the Committee for Public Order and Security, chaired by the Prefect of Cagliari.

The search also led to the discovery of the weapon used: a kitchen knife approximately thirty centimetres long, abandoned in a street not far from the scene of the attack.

After the usual formalities, the fifteen-year-old was taken to the Quartucciu juvenile prison, where he was placed at the disposal of the Juvenile Judicial Authority, which is coordinating the investigation.
