"It is with deep sadness that I learned of the passing of Army First Rank Matteo Ambu, who died following a tragic accident near Jesolo while on his way to work."
Defense Minister Guido Crosetto expressed his condolences for the death of the 46-year-old soldier from Cagliari—who grew up in Pirri and moved to Veneto for work.
«On behalf of myself and the entire Defence», adds the minister, «I express my deepest condolences to his family, to the Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Carmine Masiello, and to all his colleagues in the Army».
The car in which Ambu, stationed in Padua, was traveling was hit by a fallen tree due to the bad weather that was raging at that time.
