There is also the recovery of the Tuvumannu tunnel among the items listed in the new Puc of Cagliari, the municipal urban plan - awaited for twenty years - which "draws" on paper the city of the future , including green spaces , cutting-edge structures and the valorization of the sea front .
And even if for now we are stuck only with the signing of the resolution, for the municipal councilor of the mixed group Roberto Mura " the Tuvixeddu and Tuvumannu park is a reality, in the Puc ", with the " refunctionalisation of the reinforced concrete box deriving from the partial construction of the road tunnel, an infrastructural element approximately 600 meters long, the construction of which has been abandoned for over 10 years. It represents a territorial sign , corresponding to the Tuvumannu hill, particularly relevant for which the problem arises of what use will be made in the future".
Various hypotheses were taken into consideration in view of a final decision . We start from the partial use of the work «as an underground car park, upon completion, to be used both in relation to the needs expressed by the surrounding volumes (hospital, engineering faculty, cus sports center etc.) and for the archaeological park, for the which adequate solutions must also be found for tourist visits by bus". But the concrete structure could also undergo a partial transformation, with the «reuse for the services of the social housing complex and for the neighborhood»
Another option could be the «completion of the work as a road infrastructure connecting the via Cadello/via Is Mirrionis junction and via Is Maglias; the necessary cost is several million euros . The tunnel was planned to create the transversal route out of the city up to state road 195. The copy planning established that beyond Via Is Maglias the archaeological park must not be crossed by road axes so only the hypothesis of a partial connection , up to Via Is Maglias, which however would have significantly limited transport and urban mobility importance, also in relation to the necessary costs", concludes Mura.
