A 38-year-old man, Oga Freedom, originally from Nigeria, was arrested in Cagliari on charges of sexual assault against a 31-year-old Sardinian woman .
The two apparently met over the phone and arranged to meet in a rented apartment in the Is Mirrionis neighborhood.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, during the meeting the man allegedly demanded more than what had been agreed upon, but when the woman refused, he brutally beat her and locked her in the bedroom.
The victim would have been deprived of personal liberty until the abuse had taken place.
After managing to free herself, the 31-year-old called 112 for help. The Carabinieri responded immediately and took her report.
The public prosecutor on duty was informed, and the suspect's arrest was ordered. The man, represented by lawyer Diana Deiana, will appear before the investigating judge for preliminary hearing in the next few hours.
