Approximately 350 people were rescued at sea, with 18 vessels rescued due to engine failure, grounding, or adverse weather conditions.
And again: 7,741 checks carried out, including 1,607 on recreational boats, 1,201 on beach resorts, 2,410 on state property, 368 on maritime traffic and 2,155 on other activities.
These are some of the data from the activities of the Cagliari Port Authority during the “Safe Seas and Lakes 2025” operation, which began in June and concluded at the end of September.
In three months, the Coast Guard further highlights, a total of 340 administrative fines were issued, primarily for violations of recreational boating, beach safety, and use of public property. Eleven criminal reports were forwarded to the judicial authorities, including four for violations of public property and four related to environmental matters.
"The entire operation," reads a statement from the Coast Guard, "took place along the approximately 950 km of coastline falling under the jurisdiction of the Maritime Directorate, involving 49 coastal municipalities and three Marine Protected Areas—Capo Carbonara, Capo Spartivento, and the Sinis Peninsula and Mal di Ventre Island—with the assistance of naval, land, and air assets, including the vessels of the 4th Flight Section of Decimomannu and the 4th Coast Guard Underwater Unit."
The operation "represented a complex and constantly operational system, which completed more than 2,000 hours of operation, with the primary objective of ensuring bathing safety, protecting human life at sea, and ensuring compliance with regulations protecting the environment and public maritime property."
The Management emphasizes that "special mention should be made of the rescue operation carried out in Villasimius for the evacuation of the Punta Molentis beach , made necessary by the fire that affected the coastal area , where the promptness and coordination of the rescue forces guaranteed the safety of the bathers and the effective management of the emergency."
