First the acts of vandalism inside the building, then a fire. Thus, in the late afternoon yesterday, the StraKrash Neighborhood Center in the Is Mirrionis neighborhood in Cagliari, in via Brianza, was devastated. A structure, which is part of the services of the Municipality of Cagliari and is managed by the Passaparola Social Cooperative, which since 2016 has offered free social and recreational activities for children and teenagers from 5 to 17 years old, as well as families and adults.

"We were contacted last night by the neighbors who live in the buildings opposite, who warned us of smoke coming out of the structure," reports Sara Aliberti, coordinator of the center together with Salvatore Aru. " Initially they thought it was a short circuit, instead the firefighters found the entrance door broken . They entered from Via Brianza, they turned the whole structure upside down with the shelves thrown on the floor, the walls and tables smeared with paint, the table footballs thrown on the floor. And they also started a fire between the library and a room, so there are two rooms completely sealed because the entire false ceiling collapsed."

The structure is now completely unusable. There were no cameras: the carabinieri are investigating, who intervened together with the firefighters who put out the fire . "We have filed a complaint," Aru says. "We hope that something will emerge from the video cameras in the neighborhood, but the request for access to the images must be made by the carabinieri." All activities for children and teenagers, as well as those for adults, are suspended. "The damage is extensive and so is the time to get the structure back on its feet," Aru says bitterly. "We are in contact with the representatives of the Municipality, to find a way to start again since everything has to be rebuilt."
