The Guardia di Finanza's investigation into the proposed privatization of Elmas Airport isn't the only one underway. In addition to the investigation delegated by the Regional Prosecutor's Office of the Court of Auditors, which led to the acquisition of various documents from various regional offices regarding the events surrounding the "Mario Mameli" airport (and related interests), the Carabinieri of the Operations Unit of the Cagliari Company have also been working for weeks .

At this time, it is premature to define the Carabinieri investigators' activity as a true criminal investigation, given that the officers are still conducting investigations "on their own initiative" and not with a formal mandate from the Prosecutor's Office. However, once the investigations are completed—which are still strictly confidential—the final report will be forwarded to the Chief Prosecutor for his assessment.

And after the Guardia di Finanza acquired the documents on behalf of the Court of Auditors, the Sardinian center-right quickly began to lash out, calling it a " smoky operation in terms of public interest."
