All aboard, and some were wearing T-shirts with the words in Sardinian “lassa perdi” , that is, forget it. A strong and clear message addressed to the Ministry of the Environment, which for the first time is prohibiting the use of camps within the Sinis Marine Protected Area.
The first demonstration was held in the Gulf of Oristano. The yachtsmen of the area, who can no longer use the buoys present in the Marine Protected Area of Sinis because according to the Ministry they are too close, so much so as not to guarantee the right safety, have decided to raise their voices. Forty boats yesterday morning set off in procession from the small port of Torregrande to head towards the industrial port of Oristano.
A procession at sea without prayers: on board megaphones, banners and a lot of anger. A protest against the Ministry but also a way to express full support for the commitment of the Municipality of Cabras that is trying to find an agreement with the Roman offices.
After the approval of the new regulations of the Marine Park, the Ministry of the Environment proposed to the Municipality either to eliminate 70% of the buoys, so as to distance them at least 100 meters from each other, or to transform the areas into mooring fields, where however many rules must be respected including the prohibition of bathing. Then from Cabras a counter proposal was launched, that is to eliminate only 30% of the buoys, this in light of a detailed study done together with the harbour master. However, no answers have yet arrived.
"Now we will also send a note to the Ministry - explains Nino Firinu, one of the organizers of the protest at sea - We cannot let the nautical industry die".
