Simone Monni, mayor of Burcei since 2022, is running for councilor on the list proposing outgoing social services councilor Tilde Scalas for the highest office in the June municipal elections. "My decision not to run for mayor," Monni said, "is based on the need to dedicate more time to my family and my personal growth. The suggestion to run for a second term has come from many quarters: a beautiful expression of respect that I will never forget. My greatest satisfaction remains having always made myself completely available to the citizens, never holding back."
A final assessment of the legislature? "Definitely positive. My administration has carried out many actions that I applaud and am proud of: a commitment aimed at ensuring essential services in the town, such as a general practitioner and diabetologist, the resolution of water supply problems, and continuous monitoring for the construction of the new Burcei-Sinnai-Maracalagonis road. We have also activated many important services, such as the 'Welcoming Parent' service, the digital help desk for citizens, and social gathering trips for the elderly."
The mayor also states that "by working together, we have secured approximately €7 million in funding from the National Plan for Urban Regeneration (PNRR), Ministries, and the Regional Municipality of Rome (RAS), which will enable projects such as the New Barracks, the work on the Parish of Our Lady of Monserrato, the asphalting of all the streets in the city center, and the redevelopment of the cemetery pending the construction of the new one. Among other things, we have completed work on urban and rural roads, the redevelopment of the Santa Barbara viewpoint, work on the municipal gym, energy efficiency improvements, and significant renovations to schools and sports facilities. We have a new call for proposals for urban hygiene ready, with many additional and improved services, and the imminent opening of the recycling center." "The PUC itself," the mayor concludes, "is finally ready for approval by the City Council."
