The ritual of bread—nourishment and symbol, culture and identity—is at the heart of AgriCultura, two days of events, workshops, and exhibitions taking place Friday and Saturday at the Ex Casermette (Via Mameli, 48) in Olbia. The event is organized by Mulinu, La Macina di Sardegna, in collaboration with several local organizations. "With AgriCultura, we want to bring attention to the sacredness of wheat and the unifying power of bread," explain the organizers: "It's an invitation to rediscover our times and our flavors in a frenetic age, starting from the very heart of our Sardinian identity." The event opens on Saturday the 18th at 10:00 a.m. with a roundtable discussion on the role of bread in Sardinian culture, followed by bread-milling workshops for adults and children, an aperitif, and a signature lunch. In the afternoon, at 3:00 p.m., one of the most anticipated events will be an exclusive demonstration of how to make Su Filindeu, a bread made with wheat flour. This demonstration will be repeated the following day at 11:30 a.m. At 8 pm, dinner on the theme “Pizza and the Voice of Wheat” will feature sound effects by Armando Casu (sax), Gerardo Ferrara (percussion), and Gianluca Starita (violin) who will accompany the story.
Sunday, April 19th, will open with a "Farmer's Breakfast" featuring freshly baked bread and other local products. It will continue throughout the day with workshops and demonstrations of Pintadura (a traditional Italian bread-making technique) and insights into sourdough and Pane Carasau (a type of bread made with Carasau bread). The event will conclude at 7:00 PM with bread and music. A farmers' market will also be held throughout the day, offering local, zero-mile products.
A special section is dedicated to cinema, with the films "Isura da filmà" by Marco Antonio Pani (who will be present) on Saturday at 5 pm, and "La Terra mi tiene" by Sara Manisera and Arianna Pagani on Sunday at 6 pm. During the two days, visitors can visit the photography exhibition: "Questo filo di Pane tra miseria e fortuna," an installation that intertwines the paintings of Cinzia Ghigliano and the photography of Reinhold Kohl to tell the story of bread through the eyes of Fabrizio De André.
