Politicians are squabbling over funding for bovine dermatitis . A segment of the majority wants to shield the government's proposal, but the opposition isn't having it. The group leaders have attempted to break the deadlock by calling the trade associations to the government: the meeting is scheduled for this morning.

The situation was shattered the other day when the government diverted an additional €12.8 million for livestock farmers into the budget adjustment under discussion, compared to the €12 million already earmarked in the financial statement . The goal was to get closer to the €30 million the center-right included in its proposal, "taking it away from airport privatization."

Meanwhile, the number of outbreaks has risen to 50, and the vaccination campaign is slow: just over 20,000 vaccinations have been administered to 280,000 animals requiring protection . Veterinary teams are stretched thin, and the topography of the farms, with the majority of livestock grazing freely and happily across vast swathes of land that are often inaccessible, is not helping matters. The arrival of freelance veterinarians was expected, but recruitment is slow.
