The first encouraging signs regarding the bovine eczema emergency in the Sarrabus region . Following the discovery of two outbreaks of lumpy skin disease (LSD) in the municipalities of Muravera and Villaputzu , the Cagliari Local Health Authority (ASL) has confirmed that clinical inspections conducted so far have not detected any new cases.
Since last week, the Veterinary Service has activated a systematic health surveillance protocol . The checks are not limited to the affected farms, but include all cattle farms located in the surrounding areas and within the so-called "restricted zone."
The health authorities' goal is twofold: to accurately map the potential spread of the virus and to intervene promptly to isolate any possible suspects.
To date, the results of the inspections are negative: according to the ASL (Local Health Authority), the tests carried out by veterinarians have not revealed any clinical signs attributable to the disease in the examined animals . This finding suggests, for the moment, that the contagion may have remained limited to the initial outbreaks.
The alert remains high: the ASL Veterinary Service confirms that it will continue to monitor the evolution of the epidemiological situation with extreme attention, reserving the right to provide timely updates based on the development of epidemiological data.
