The small town of Marghine has its own Ascot clinic, ending the inconveniences and difficulties for the citizens and especially for the elderly of the town. Since last October 15, in fact, the town had no doctor and all patients, especially the elderly and frail, had to go to the Ascot in Macomer, amidst a thousand inconveniences and difficulties. The ASL of Nuoro, together with the director of the health center of Macomer, has accepted the request of the mayor, Silvia Cadeddu, opening in the town, starting next Tuesday, the Ascot clinic, for five hours a week. Hours that will be distributed on Tuesdays from 3 to 6 pm and on Thursdays from 3 to 5 pm.
"A very important result both in the area of protecting people's right to health - says the mayor, Silvia Cadeddu - in particular of all those who have chosen to live in small municipalities such as Birori, which also suffers in terms of the fight against the depopulation of services, which has been raging in our territory for years. I can only express satisfaction and thank the sensitivity and availability of the general director of the ASL of Nuoro, Paolo Cannas and the director of the health district of Macomer, Maria Giovanna Porcu. I am convinced that the depopulation of small municipalities must be fought by ensuring the presence of essential services first and foremost. In 2017 we reopened the pharmaceutical clinic, now the Ascot clinic. I trust that the ATM Postamat automatic teller machine, requested since 2019, will also be installed soon".
The Ascot clinic is an achievement that puts an end to the inconvenience and could also be a solution for other municipalities on the island, without a medical clinic or family doctor.
