The recent amendment voted unanimously by the regional council is not enough: Barbagia-Mandrolisai forms a framework agreement with Barigadu and asks the Region to strengthen the process towards the fourth helicopter rescue base in Sorgono.

This was reiterated in no uncertain terms this morning from the Sam Camillo hospital by the local mayor Franco Zedde, Alessandro Corona (Atzara), Maurizio Cadau (Belvì), Costantino Tidu (Teti), Paolo Fontana (Aritzo) : «The time for the base in central Sardinia is now ripe - said the mayor of Sorgono Franco Zedde - it is essential that the region formalizes its intentions. This is an essential service that would cover a large portion of the island».

For Zedde, the existing bases in Cagliari, Alghero and Olbia are not sufficient : «The heli-bases are located in coastal areas, while the interior, where the roads are worn out and travel in health emergencies is complex, is still uncovered».

A battle in the name of the right to health that of the local administrators, who in recent days have sent a new letter to President Todde: "The fourth base of Sorgono is essential - concluded Zedde, armed for the occasion with a series of topographic maps - and we reiterated this in the last meeting in Cagliari with President Todde and Councilor Bartolazzi. The discussions with Areus are ongoing and we have identified an area of 13 hectares in the Chinelli area. Now we need political intentions".

Also on the same line is our colleague from Aritz Paolo Fontana, head of the District Social Health Conference: «We have asked for a precise commitment from President Todde and the entire regional council and the letter from the last few hours goes exactly in this direction. Ours is not a political whim but a unanimous appeal to see the rights of our municipalities recognized».

Thus, the mayor of Atzara Alessandro Corona, President of the Mountain Community Gennargentu-Mandrolisai: «We ask for concrete facts and a serious regional planning policy that includes the territory of central Sardinia and, in particular Sorgono, as a base for helicopter rescue. This would be the technically most correct and appropriate choice for the health of the Sardinians. Any other evaluation would be the shop and personal interests of some regional councilor».
