The Cagliari Court of Appeal upheld the plea bargain in the second-degree murder trial of Gabriele Pergola, who was strangled in a B&B in Quartucciu . As a result of the plea bargain, the sentence for Gabriele Cabras , who was twenty-one at the time, was reduced from 26 to 23 years in prison.
At dawn on July 31, 2023, Gabriele Pergola, a 43-year-old businessman from Quartu Sant'Elena, was found strangled to death in a room at the B&B "Corte Cristina" in Quartucciu. Carabinieri from the Quartu Sant'Elena Company quickly traced Gabriele Cabras, from Sinnai, arresting him as he was walking down the street with the victim's stolen money.
When the sentence was read, the relatives, represented by lawyers Mauro Massa and Fausto Argiolas, expressed their anger and despair . The defendant is being defended by Giovanni Cabras.
