Anna Laura Pilia died by drowning. Confirmation came from the results of the autopsy, performed this afternoon on the body of the 10-year-old girl. The unrepeatable examination, which the prosecutor of Lanusei Giovanna Morra entrusted to the pathologist Michela Laurenzo, ended after more than five hours.

According to what has emerged, the little sailor from Tortolì did not present any injuries, neither to the head nor to the rest of the body, so it is certain that the death was caused by drowning. Anna Laura fell into the water after her optimist, the monohull equipped with a single sail, capsized.

The little girl drowned even though she was wearing her life jacket , but she evidently got caught in a rope that kept her under the boat that the athlete herself was familiar with due to her constant training. At the end of the autopsy, the prosecutor returned the body to the family.

The Prosecutor's Office has delegated the investigation to the Arbatax Coast Guard, under the command of Lieutenant Mattia Caniglia.
