"The statements by Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary, along with those of other airlines, tour operators, and unions, definitively shatter the government's reassuring narrative: the risk of a crisis in aviation fuel supplies is real and could impact flight schedules and summer bookings in the coming weeks ."

This is what the Democratic Party MP and regional secretary of the Democratic Party, Silvio Lai , said after the statements made by Ryanair's CEO Michael O'Leary, who had highlighted the uncertainties regarding fuel supplies after May due to the war in Iran.

" For Sardinia," he adds, "the consequences are immediate and disproportionate . Even the uncertainty surrounding air travel compromises territorial continuity, affects the right to mobility of citizens and workers, and puts the entire tourist season at risk. Already, May has seen a reduction in bookings and postponements for summer vacations."

According to Lai, "it is unacceptable that, given such clear signals, the government has yet to initiate public coordination with authorities, airlines, and airport operators, nor provide transparent data on the status of stocks . For this reason, I have submitted a parliamentary question to ask the government to clearly state the status of fuel stocks at Italian airports, what risks exist for the summer months, and what measures it intends to adopt to ensure the continuity of flights, starting with Sardinia, which is already suffering, through no fault of its own, from a doubling of freight rates."
