The autopsy on the body of Andrea Capone, the 43-year-old former Cagliari midfielder, found dead on Sunday morning in a suite in Palazzo Tirso in Cagliari, lasted over three hours.
The autopsy was performed by a doctor from Roberto Demontis' team. From what we learned, no signs of violence were found on the body: the hypothesis of an accident therefore remains, to be understood whether it was caused by illness or by a fall from the steep stairs of the hotel suite.
We will have to wait for the results of the toxicological and histological tests, which will arrive in several weeks, to have a complete picture of the exact causes of death.
According to what was ascertained by the police, with the agents of the flying squad and the mobile squad, Capone had taken part in a party for the baptism of a friend's son during the night between Saturday and Sunday and had ended the evening in a club in the Su Siccu marina area together with other guests. He could not find his car and house keys and for this reason he was offered to sleep in the suite of Palazzo Tirso.
The Flying Squad has viewed the footage from the hotel's security cameras where the friends can clearly be seen accompanying the 43-year-old to his room and then leaving. Perhaps he felt ill during the night, or he needed to go down from the upper floor to the lower floor of the suite and fell down the stairs.
The body was discovered on Sunday morning around 11am by hotel staff.
