The 50-year-old of Romanian origin who was burned while trying to pour gasoline on the owner of a bar in Assemini died. The man had been hospitalized for three days at the Sassari burn center but did not make it due to the serious injuries sustained in the raid he himself triggered.

The facts date back to Friday. At 6.30 in the morning, the 50-year-old called 113 announcing what he was about to do: "I'm going to the bar and I'll set the owner on fire, because he didn't pay me." He said he had worked as a worker for a company owned by the owner of the bar and demanded an overdue payment from the latter.

An action that he immediately put into practice: when the police arrived on the spot they found him there, in his hand a lighter and a bucket full of petrol. The agents tried in every way to dissuade him, in vain: suddenly the man unleashed the stake, immediately being hit by a blaze.

To save him, a policeman from the flying squad was also badly burned, while his colleague managed to put out the fire using the service fire extinguisher and a hydrant. Both the agent and the 50-year-old, after a visit to the Brotzu and the Policlinico, were transferred to the burn center in Sassari.

Here the 50-year-old died while the flying squad agent is still hospitalized: he is not in danger of life, but his conditions remain serious.
