The six men arrested yesterday by the Nuoro police on charges of being part of a gang responsible for armed attacks on armored vehicles and several robberies and thefts in the Nuoro area will appear on Friday before the investigating judge of the Nuoro Court, Giovanni Angelicchio, for preliminary hearings .

Michele Carta, 41, from Siniscola, Riccardo Mercuriu, 30, from Mamoiada (defended by lawyer Francesco Lai), Antonio Saccheddu, 35, from Orgosolo (defended by lawyer Margherita Baragliu), Alessandro Dessolis, 41, from Orgosolo (defended by lawyer Stefano Murgia), Giovanni Piras, 29, from Orgosolo (defended by lawyer Carmelino Fenudi), and Pasquale Musina, 49, also from Orgosolo (defended by lawyer Riccardo Floris), will be questioned by the investigating judge directly in the Badu 'e Carros prison, where they have been held since dawn yesterday.

This precautionary measure was essential, according to the judge, given the numerous criminal records of those arrested, who were deemed "lacking in common sense," unpredictable, and deaf to authority, which they perceived as a nuisance to be evaded. The gang, in fact, continued their crimes despite some members knowing the police were breathing down their necks, having found bugs in their cars. Regardless of the risks, they continued to organize and commit robberies and other crimes.

Until yesterday, when officers stormed their homes at dawn and arrested them. A seventh man, Peppino Puligheddu, 60, from Orgosolo, remains at large after evading arrest yesterday.

Officers from the Nuoro Police Headquarters' Flying Squad, led by their manager, Fabio Di Lella, are on his trail and could close in on him in the next few hours.
