Checkpoints and thorough searches, concentrated in the provinces of Sassari and Nuoro, to capture the gang of robbers who this morning, on the provincial road 38 that connects Tempio Pausania with Olbia, attacked a security van carrying cigarettes, shooting and wounding the driver of the vehicle in the leg, before running away without completing the shot. The cargo had a value of over 300 thousand euros.

According to what was reconstructed by the carabinieri of the Olbia territorial department, the bandits aboard a van joined the armored car, at the crossroads for Monte Pino, and forced him to stop. Two of them, armed with guns and with their faces covered, boarded the vehicle and ordered the driver to follow their van, in which one or more accomplices were proceeding. The driver of the security carrier tried to make them desist by carrying out sudden maneuvers with his vehicle. The robbers reacted first by hitting him in the head with fists and the butt of the pistol, then they fired a shot that wounded him in the left leg.

The security van then stopped against the guard rail and the criminals ran away without taking anything away. The driver called for help and the carabinieri and 118 arrived on the spot. The man was stabilized and transferred by helicopter to the hospital in Sassari, where he is still hospitalized. He has always remained conscious and his condition does not appear worrying.
