Subsidences and collapses in the former Barracks of the Asinara prison, the structure that currently houses the SognAsinara Hostel in Cala D'Oliva. In recent days, the surveys carried out during a joint inspection with the Coastal Conservation Office of the Sardinia Region and the fire brigade team, have revealed a significant phenomenon of structural degradation that led to the partial collapse of the attic of a bedroom.

The greatest structural criticalities were found in all the corner chambers with significant deformation phenomena. The technical report drawn up by the provincial fire brigade command shows that the central structures, although not in good condition, show more limited deformations, while the corner wall structures will have to undergo consolidation interventions as localized subsidence is occurring.

Mayor Massimo Mulas immediately issued the ordinance to carry out safety and restoration work that could create a dangerous situation and evolve negatively, putting public and private safety at risk.

The provision requires the Region and, therefore, the Conservatory, owners of the building that houses the accommodation facility, to intervene immediately, and in any case no later than 15 days after notification of the order, to secure and restore the safety and health conditions, with the execution of consolidation and remediation works on the building, in order to avoid the risk of possible further subsidence, and to send to the Environmental Service of the Municipality of Porto Torres a report by a qualified technician on the interventions to be carried out.
