The historic center of Arzachena hosted the first national initiative "The Planet is Not an Ashtray," promoted in collaboration with Plastic Free and dedicated to raising awareness about the proper disposal of cigarette butts and small urban waste. The event, held last Saturday, involved volunteers from the Arzachena and Olbia sections, who joined forces to clean up some of the town's most iconic areas. Numerous cigarette butts and discarded waste were collected during the activity, demonstrating a phenomenon that continues to impact the urban decor and the environment. The cleanup operations focused on three community landmarks: the Roccia del Fungo, a natural monument and one of Arzachena's most iconic landmarks; Piazza Risorgimento; and the bastion area with the Santa Lucia steps. This effort restored greater cleanliness and order to areas frequented by residents and visitors.

The event was promoted by Environment Councilor Michele Occhioni as part of the municipal Blue Agenda 2026 project, a program that aims to strengthen local protection and enhancement efforts through awareness-raising activities and citizen engagement. Environmental protection activities continued today with the participation of first-year middle school students. Capriccioli beach also hosted the latest edition of Clean Beach Day, organized by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda on the occasion of World Oceans Day.
