The new Archbishop of the Diocese of Sassari, Monsignor Francesco Antonio Soddu, is making a pastoral visit to the city of Porto Torres . Tomorrow, Saturday 18 April, at 3:30 pm, on the occasion of his solemn installation , he will stop at the Basilica of San Gavino for a prayer meeting at the tomb of the Holy Martyrs of Sassari.
A particularly significant event, marking the beginning of his pastoral ministry, a tribute to the Christian saints whose relics, discovered in 1614, are preserved in the thousand-year-old Romanesque church, where a mass dedicated to them is celebrated every year. A cult that involves the entire island and is renewed in Porto Torres the day after Pentecost.
The local police command in Turritana has issued a new ordinance to regulate traffic during the pastoral visit, to allow for the safe reception of the archbishop.
To allow the initiatives to take place, starting at 1 p.m. and continuing until the end of the event, parking has been prohibited in Largo Sabelli, between Via Manno and Piazza Martiri Turritani.
