The operation conducted by the Carabinieri of Torre dei Corsari in the Arbus countryside, where two men were caught poaching in the middle of the night , ended with a double complaint.

The military caught them red-handed in the Sa Caddàia area, around 1:15 in the morning, during a hunting trip during a general ban.

The two—a 46-year-old worker from San Gavino Monreale and a 55-year-old farmer living in Arbus—were armed with a Benelli M1 Super 90 semi-automatic rifle, loaded with split ammunition, which is not permitted for hunting ungulates.

In the cargo area of the worker's Nissan Navara, the Carabinieri found the slaughtered bodies of a deer and an adult wild boar, both hidden.

All the material was seized: weapons, ammunition, and carcasses. The two men were charged at liberty.

The charges are serious: killing and keeping particularly protected wildlife, hunting during prohibited periods, and using illegal ammunition, in violation of regional and national wildlife protection laws.
