Ciro Iacono was a man of the sea. One of the pioneers of motorboat excursions along the Baunei coast, he was credited with believing in the consortium's ability to optimize the quality of tourism.

His earthly life ended in the past few hours: the former captain of the motor vessel Borea, a role inherited by his son Lorenzo, at the height of an illness he faced with courage and dignity. He was 65 years old.

A native of Tortolì, but with proud Ponza roots, Iacono was a prominent figure in the world of passenger maritime transport in Ogliastra. He began his career in the 1980s in the shipping industry, working his way up from mooring mate to pilots' corps to motor vessels, fulfilling every role with passion and dedication, from deckhand to captain, until he became president of the cooperative.
