Another road tragedy in the Oristano area . Late yesterday evening , a 63-year-old man, Raffaele Ardu, lost his life in a tragic accident on Provincial Road 72 , which connects Curcuris to Pompu. There was nothing that could be done for the man, originally from Pompu and the owner of a construction company .
According to an initial reconstruction by the Carabinieri, Ardu, driving his white van, was returning to town. On a downhill stretch, for reasons yet to be clarified, he lost control of the vehicle, which overturned onto the right side of the road, almost ending up in a ditch. The 63-year-old was thrown from the vehicle; the impact was so violent that he had no chance of survival.
Some passing motorists raised the alarm and called for help, but when the 118 operators arrived there was nothing more that could be done for the driver of the van .

Firefighters from the Ales detachment also intervened on the provincial road, while Carabinieri from the Mogoro Company's Radiomobile section carried out surveys and attempted to reconstruct the exact dynamics.

Investigations were still ongoing overnight to determine the cause of the accident . It has not been ruled out that Ardu may have been taken ill . The provincial road is certainly very dark and quite treacherous in some sections.
