The Bonorva countryside is still burning. And today's fire is proof that more than one thing is wrong, in the eyes of Mayor Massimo D'Agostino.

"Same spot, same fire, different wind," he claims, as smoke begins to rise high in the same area that had been hit by flames in recent days. Like in previous years. Do we continue to say that it is a rekindling or that it is a coincidence?", the mayor asks rhetorically, before adding: "Do we have to burn the soles of our feet too for this nightmare to end?"

Mediterranean scrub and vegetation on fire are keeping the Forestry Corps teams and the Sassari firefighters busy, who intervened shortly before 2 pm for the new alarm. They are trying to create a rock formation capable of slowing the spread of the fire. Barracelli and volunteers are also on site to try to contain the blaze. Two Forestry helicopters are in flight, departing from the Anela and Farcana bases . The intervention of the SuperPuma, the heavy helicopter of the regional fleet, has also been requested .

D'Agostino himself, faced with yet another fire on June 16, had attacked: «If a fire started by a criminal yesterday destroys 500 hectares of land and the next day, 200 meters away from where it started, another fire is started again causing just as much damage, then we are not faced with “Summer Fires” but with criminals who are waging a cruel and planned war».

And so the war "is fought with exceptional means. Enough. Bonorva has clearly been targeted for some time by these criminals who enjoy destroying our territory every year. And so", was the appeal, "the Region should help us track down these criminals who sooner or later will cause irreparable damage. The Forestry Corps should be guaranteed the appropriate resources to equip itself with intelligence and technology tools that will help us defeat this nightmare".
