The power outage continues in Quartu. Entire neighborhoods were left without power today, and several shops at the Le Vele shopping center had to close their shutters due to the power outage.
During the night, things got even worse, with practically the entire city in darkness and heat . From Via Mascagni to Via Della Musica, from Via S'Ecca S'Arrideli to Via Boito, from Capitana to Sacro Cuore. In some areas, like Via Turati and Via Petrarca, the electricity was constantly on and off, causing serious damage to appliances and forcing residents to hastily call an electrician.
It was another nightmarish night without air conditioning on yet another evening of extreme temperatures, with some residents taking to the streets in search of nonexistent refreshment or seeking relief with wet towels.
Yet the NRRP work was supposed to solve the problem of power outages once and for all. Energy efficiency and benefits for residents of all neighborhoods—that's what was said—but the work isn't finished yet, and who knows when it will be.
Meanwhile, even the substations scattered around the city aren't operational . There are twenty-nine in total, located in the city center and along the coast. Most are in schoolyards, with the others in Via Turati (in the clinic courtyard), Via Copernico, Via Umbria, Via Fadda, and in the Is Paris area, where the Flumini soccer field is located. These are medium-voltage substations: essentially, the electricity arrives at medium voltage and exits at low voltage, distributed to various homes. But it's still unknown when they'll be operational.
On Via Della Musica, the large Quartu-Sud primary substation is being built, designed to potentially distribute electricity to approximately 20,000 customers. It receives power from the high-voltage lines of the national transmission grid and transforms it into medium voltage for distribution throughout the area. This project, Enel Distribuzione emphasizes, "improves the grid and the quality of service and enables the area to transition to energy. This facility will provide a more efficient service." However, it's unknown when.
