There's another burglary alert among the sea-view villas in Margine Rosso on the Quartu coast, and the latest one happened just a few days ago. They waited for the residents to leave, then the gang, apparently three people strong as captured on camera, went into action, ransacking the house, opening the safe with a cordless grinder, and stealing money and jewelry. So now the residents are trying to protect each other by patrolling, and the Committee has distributed signs to hang on the gates that read "area subject to neighborhood social control."
In short, it's anything but easy in these summer days, when it seemed like burglaries were a distant memory. The burglary a few days ago was committed in broad daylight. The owner of the burglarized home spoke only on condition of anonymity. "It was 1 p.m. and the house was empty because we had gone out. When we returned in the evening, we found everything open and in disarray. They did it all in half an hour: they ransacked the entire house, moved furniture and pictures, then opened the safe with a grinder and took about €1,000 in cash and some jewelry. The security cameras showed them repeatedly ringing the doorbell before entering, just to see if we were home. Now we have to protect ourselves. Together with other residents, we will have security guards patrol the house."
The problem of thefts had upset the peace of Margine Rosso some time ago with five incursions and attempted incursions and various raids even in gardens and verandas.
