Two people arrested for extortion against an Alghero businessman.

This morning at the police station in Sassari, the head of the Flying Squad Michele Mecca illustrated the operation by the State Police which led, three days ago, to the arrest of the couple, a 34-year-old man (Dimitri Iacono, who had already ended up in prison some time ago as an accomplice in the murder of the waiter from Alghero Agostino Salis , killed in February 2014) and a minor.

The two, according to the accusations, would have kidnapped the professional, very well known in the nautical sector, taking him to a piece of land in the Alghero countryside and here, under the threat of a gun, they would have demanded 50 thousand euros.

To give strength to the intimidating act, the couple, in addition to the beatings received by the victim, also a gunshot fired at the businessman's car . The latter, frightened, took the 10 thousand euros he had available and handed them over to the criminals. The police officers learned of the incident through indirect channels because the businessman had not reported it.

"We want - explains Mecca - that people know that the police are there and that they can report". The suspicion is that other individuals have been subjected to the same treatment as the entrepreneur .

The minor is in the Quartucciu prison while the 34-year-old – who had served 10 years out of 14 for the above-mentioned murder – is detained in Bancali and the arrest was validated by the investigating judge Giuseppe Grotteria . The prosecutor Erica Angioni is the owner of the file.
